About this Episode
Brook Wayne’s family began homeschooling in 1983, after her mother heard Dr. James Dobson and Dr. Raymond Moore on the radio in an ER waiting room.
Zan Tyler and Brook, a second-generation homeschooler and mother of 11, trace how that vision took root. The mom who once called homeschooling weird soon said it was no sacrifice at all. It was exactly what she wanted to be doing. Her joy was contagious, and today all of Brook’s nieces and nephews are homeschooled. Zan reflects on why everyday homeschool moments often spark the deepest spiritual conversations.
Brook gets honest about homeschool burnout, including a season when Lyme disease left one of her daughters unable to walk for 10 months.
Discover why the love you pour into your children is never wasted in God’s economy.

Podcast Sponsor
At BJU Press Homeschool, we’re committed to providing children an education from a biblical worldview that is academically sound and challenges them to advance, think critically, and live like Christ. This type of education is not often possible in public schools because of the number of children taught in a classroom, a difference in worldview, and peer and societal pressure to conform. Homeschooling allows parents to instruct and disciple their children without daily fighting messages from an opposing worldview taught in the classroom. And with tuition costs and fees for private schooling or tutoring, homeschooling may be the only option for parents who are concerned for their children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
