About this Episode
Are we raising boys to sit still—or to stand strong? Zan and homeschool mom Heather Haupt tackle what it really looks like to raise sons with courage, honor, and purpose. Drawing from her book Knights in Training, Heather shares how imagination, faith, and intentional training shape boys into men who defend truth and live with integrity. Boys are wired for movement, challenge, and meaning—and when we understand that, they flourish. And while this conversation centers on sons, the vision for character applies to every child.
Meet My Guest
Heather Haupt is a homeschool mother of five, with two of them graduated. Recognizing the brevity of childhood and the power of a parent’s influence, Heather both inspires and equips families toward intentional parenting, pursuing God, and delighting in the adventure of learning through a developmentally appropriate approach to education. She is the author of Knights-in-Training: Ten Principles for Raising Honorable, Courageous and Compassionate Boys, The Ultimate Guide to Brain Breaks, and co-author of the GO TOGETHER curriculum.

At BJU Press Homeschool, we’re committed to providing children an education from a biblical worldview that is academically sound and challenges them to advance, think critically, and live like Christ. This type of education is not often possible in public schools because of the number of children taught in a classroom, a difference in worldview, and peer and societal pressure to conform. Homeschooling allows parents to instruct and disciple their children without daily fighting messages from an opposing worldview taught in the classroom. And with tuition costs and fees for private schooling or tutoring, homeschooling may be the only option for parents who are concerned for their children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
