About this Episode
You send your child upstairs with four simple tasks. An hour later you find them playing in the sink. Is it really just a focus problem?
In part two of her conversation with cognitive psychologist and ADHD mom Dr. Amy Moore, Zan Tyler looks at how ADHD shows up in schoolwork. Amy explains why working memory, long-term memory, and processing speed are often weaker than attention in people with ADHD. She also shares what to look for in your child’s testing report before you switch curriculum again. Zan tells how a tutor uncovered a learning gap between her two sons that changed how she taught one of them. They also talk about the everyday factors that matter more than we think: sleep, sugar, artificial food dyes, food sensitivities, and hydration.
Whether or not your child has an ADHD diagnosis, you’ll come away with hope and practical ways to help them thrive.

At BJU Press Homeschool, we’re committed to providing children an education from a biblical worldview that is academically sound and challenges them to advance, think critically, and live like Christ. This type of education is not often possible in public schools because of the number of children taught in a classroom, a difference in worldview, and peer and societal pressure to conform. Homeschooling allows parents to instruct and disciple their children without daily fighting messages from an opposing worldview taught in the classroom. And with tuition costs and fees for private schooling or tutoring, homeschooling may be the only option for parents who are concerned for their children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
