About this Episode
What does it take for a kid from one of America’s most violent cities to become a trial attorney and a voice for biblical truth? Zan Tyler sits down with attorney, radio host, and homeschool dad Abraham Hamilton III to revisit his New Orleans childhood, the parents whose faith and discipline anchored him at home, and the moment he gave his heart to Christ at age seven. Abe shares how a recruited basketball scholarship opened the door to college, how Hurricane Katrina rerouted his path through law school, and how an unexpected knock at his office door introduced him to the woman who would become his wife. Along the way, two encounters planted an early seed for homeschooling, long before Abe and Maria had children of their own. His story is a powerful reminder to give your children opportunities, pay attention to the seeds God is planting, and trust Him with the story He’s writing.

At BJU Press Homeschool, we’re committed to providing children an education from a biblical worldview that is academically sound and challenges them to advance, think critically, and live like Christ. This type of education is not often possible in public schools because of the number of children taught in a classroom, a difference in worldview, and peer and societal pressure to conform. Homeschooling allows parents to instruct and disciple their children without daily fighting messages from an opposing worldview taught in the classroom. And with tuition costs and fees for private schooling or tutoring, homeschooling may be the only option for parents who are concerned for their children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
