Meet My Guest

Michelle Shaw is the director of Eastside Academic Studies (a hybrid school) and the Northeast Independent Preparatory Academy (a homeschool accrediting organization). She was also the director of the DeKalb Christian Home Educators support group for 10 years. She received her B.A. in Economics from Harvard College in 1985 and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1989. Michelle practiced law for six years before she and her husband, Dr. Alan Shaw, chose to focus on homeschooling their five children. Their three boys graduated from MIT, Dartmouth, and Harvard. Their girls are currently attending Georgia State University and Kennesaw State University where Dr. Shaw is a tenured professor in Computer Science. Dr. Shaw is also the pastor of Christ First Community Church in Stone Mountain, GA.  Michelle serves as the administrator for the church and she also serves on the boards of the Hugs & Hope Food Pantry, the Community Dreams Alliance, and the DeKalb Christian Home Educators. Her goal is to help make homeschooling a viable option for all families.
